3. Research For every 1 billion of new transportation spending, an estimated 30,000 jobs are created. Unemployed remains at dangerously high levels, hovering around 9 percent. United States faces 225 billion annual “shortfall” in transportation funding. The jobs would be created in highway, transit and passenger rail projects. Each dollar used on transit was 75 percent more effective at putting people to work than a dollar used for highway work. Public transportation projects producing 70% more jobs per dollar than road projects. 68% of voters believe that improving and expanding public transportation options should be the top or high priority. In September congress passed a six-month extension of the current surface transportation law, which holds spending to current levels. As of September 2011, about 26 percent of African Americans and 22 percent of Hispanics were unemployed or underemployed, compared with 15 percent of non-Hispanic white workers. While unemployment among men has been gradually declining since June 2009, unemployment among women has been rising. According to a recent Department of Treasury report, 80 percent of jobs created by investing in infrastructure likely will be created in three occupations — construction, manufacturing and retail trade — which are among the hardest hit from the recession. The first car is expected to be delivered in September, with revenue service beginning in early 2013. These will be the first streetcars in Atlanta since 1949.

5. My Plan To creation job by transportation start out first with Cincinnati. Then after I do Cincinnati I should have enough money and employer to help other city. Worked with other lawmakers to develop and implement a series of job- creating initiatives that will help to deliver the kind of business-friendly environment that leads to private-sector job growth. Having safe, modern and easily traveled roads and bridges is important for commuters, for commerce and for job creation. As my secretary of transportation once told me, businesses don’t want to locate on a dirt road. They want a modern transportation infrastructure servicing their needs. I will asked the Cincinnati Department of Transportation to add another 126 projects to its 8-year work plan, bringing the total number of structurally deficient bridges set to be repaired. To repair the remainder, I’m asking our Legislature to make a financial commitment to fixing our bridges. By passing legislation to add an additional $15 million to the annual increases in the Rebuilding Cincinnati Access and Driver Safety (ROADS) fund, ODOT will have the resources it needs to virtually eliminate structurally deficient bridges on the state highway system. The plan doesn’t stop there, though. We’re also going to inject extra resources and energy into the county-level efforts to improve locally maintained bridges.job growth

7. What is this program trying to accomplish? To creation jobs by transportation because a lot of people can’t get work because they have no car, no transportation. Need to creation highways by doing this we will be able to do that, and will gain money to creation more jobs. My program will be in Cincinnati Ohio but its for Ohio State

8. How much does it cost to build a new highway? A mile of freeway through an urban area costs approximately $39 million, while a mile of freeway through a rural area costs approximately $8 million.
