4 Lasswade WW1 Battlefields Trip 100 years ago, thousands of Scots volunteered to join the army and fight in the First World War. They were given a small payment on joining…a gesture for their bravery and a bond from their country. This was called the ‘Kings Shilling’. We are looking for volunteers to join our own Battlefields Experience in September 2016. Pick up a letter from any History teacher and you will receive your very own ‘Kings Shilling’

5 S6 PHOTOS Reminder that your ‘Through the years’ photo or payment for this photo MUST be returned to the school office by Friday 30 October. Photos not returned will be charged for.

7 Calling S5! If you are interested in taking part in the S1 paired reading scheme, please give your name to your Guidance Teacher at PSE or see Mrs Watt in the SfL base asap. Training will be given for this very rewarding experience. You will only be required during registration twice a week till Christmas. Thank you!

8 NEW S4 Bronze Group All participants must attend a training session on Wednesday 28 th Oct 3.30-4.30pm to receive your participation pack and get started on the eDofE system. Meet in Room 105. Make arrangements to be there for the full session, if you cannot attend see Mr Boyle or Miss McDonald before Wednesday

9 NEW S5 Silver Group S5 pupils who did Bronze last year and would like to do Silver Award come to a meeting at lunchtime on Wed 5 th November in Room 105

12 Harry Potter Challenges Well done to the following muggles who got full marks yesterday: Blair, Shane, Adam, Maisie, Alexandra, Emily, Kirsten and Holli. There is a prize treat in the library for you! There are a few more quiz sheets left – come and have a go at lunchtime today in the library.

13 ‘The Great Gatsby’ Theatre Trip Wednesday 28 th October Seniors attending this trip must meet at 8.25am inside the library to register. The coaches will be leaving school at 8.30am. You must bring a packed lunch with you. You must wear school uniform.

14 Barcelona 2016 Pupils must get their bag packing forms to Miss Bigley by the end of this week (30/10/15) or they will risk not getting their first choice time slot.

16 Netball Matches To the Senior Netball Team. Your first match is Tuesday 3 rd November against Newbattle. Please come to Room 302 as soon as possible to let me know if you can play that day. Thanks Miss Mollon

17 S1-6 Hockey club! Mr Sands and Miss Hume will be coaching a hockey club on Tuesday 3:45-5pm on the astro. Girls and boys, all ages and abilities welcome! Come along after school on Tuesday in your PE kit with shin guards and hockey sticks if you have them! We will be entering tournaments against other schools very soon. If you want a chance to represent your school you MUST attend trainings.

18 U13 GIRLS FOOTBALL All S1 & S2 girls interested in playing in a 7-aside tournament, please see Miss McNeill in the PE dept ASAP.
