2 : Tides occur two times a day. Once in the morning when that side of the Earth is closest to the sun. Once in the Evening when the same side of the Earth is closest to the moon. Tides usually occur about 12 hours apart. Tides are the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the combined effects of the gravitational forces exerted by the Moon and the Sun and the rotation of the Earth. Some locations experience only one high and one low tide each day, called a diurnal tide. The same shore is hard to recognise at different tides. Although there may be only a couple of metres difference in the water level between high and low tides
