Today it has about 28 thousand restaurants worldwide and opens almost 2 thousand each year. 1 out of 8 workers in the U.S. has at some point worked for McDonald’s. Hires about one million people annually, more than any other company (private or public) Largest buyer of beef, pork, and potatoes. Largest retail owner in the world - Earns majority of profits from collecting rent. Spends more money on advertising than any other brand. A generation ago, ¾ of the money was used to buy food to prepare meals. Now, ½ the money is used to buy food, mainly at fast food restaurants. Powerful symbol of America’s economy
