How to Clone Images Using the Rubber Stamp Tool in Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004 This tool is equivalent to the cloning tool in Adobe PhotoShop. It allows you to copy or “clone” an area of your picture, replacing an undesirable part of the photo with a more desirable part.

Find a photo with a blemish. Start with a photo that has something in it that you would like to remove. In the photo to the left, the electric wires mar the shot. Cloning will let you hide those wires.

Click on the cloning tool. In Fireworks it is called a rubber stamp.

The first place you click on the photo, a cross-hair (+) appears to mark the spot that will be cloned. The second place you click,a circle appears to show where the cloned image is being inserted.

Keep clicking where you want to insert a clone of what is marked by the +. If the cross-hair covers the wrong color, take time to re-set the indicators. Click on a different icon, such as the eraser, then click back on the rubber stamp icon and set the new place that you want the cross-hair to appear.

The finished photo shows a successfully cloned roof and tree leaves without electrical wires crossing the picture.
