1. ERITREA National Planning Process BACKGROUND After independence, Eritrea’s economy was just moving towards sustainable development. However this was interrupted due the 1998-2000 war with Ethiopia, and successive droughts during 2001-2004. The national planning process went through the following blue prints;  Transitional Economic Growth & Poverty Reduction Strategy (2001-2002).  Medium Term Economic Development Framework (2004-2006)  Medium Term Economic Development Framework (2006-2010)  Food Security Strategy (2004 – 2010)  I-PRSP (2004-2006)

2. COSTING WITHIN THE MDG CONTEXT  The millennium costing methodologies were used in deriving the costing estimates in the MDG report. However, the outcomes of the next UNDAF 2007 – 2011 will fully incorporate the MDG’s costing.
