2. Getting Started Your topic is the subject of your article. You should have filled out the questionnaire. You will need 10 or more slides total.

3. At the Lab Open “Microsoft PowerPoint” 1. Go to “Start” at the bottom left. 2. Choose “All Programs.” 3. Find “Microsoft Office” 4. Go the to little black arrow next to it. 5. Choose “Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 (or 2010, the year is not important.)”

4. Choose a Design On the upper right under “Type a question for help” are the two buttons you will be using. Click on “Design.” Choose one for your presentation. You can change it later if you find that it doesn’t work for your presentation.

5. Get Started Your first slide will be your title page. You may choose a title that tells the main idea of what your presentation is. Don’t forget to add your name. You may change the font style and size.

6. Adding a Slide Go back to the upper right corner. Next to “Design” is the “New Slide” button. Click on this every time you want a new page. You can also click on “Ctrl + M” to do the same action.

7. Choosing a Layout Similar to Josten’s website, you can choose how you want your work to appear on the slide. Take a few minutes to “experiment” and find one that works for your presentation. If you need to change it later, you can.

8. Adding a Background If you don’t want a plain white background, you can change it. There are several things you can do. 1.Use the backgrounds already provided. 2.Choose an image from the Internet (but this takes a bit more work that I can help you with if you need me to.)

9. Now It’s Up to You Remember to save your work by e-mailing it to yourself. If you don’t know your gmail address, learn it! You must download your work to the desktop. As you continue to work, I will show you how to add special effects to your presentation. Some of these I will give to Mr. Chavez for morning announcements. Others will be turned into articles for the Mendez website.
