Where Is Your Mind Set? Part I Romans 8:5-11 Grace Community Church January 27, 2008
Romans 8:4 And so he condemned sin in sinful man, 4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. How do we live according to the Spirit?
Romans 8:5a 5 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires…
Romans 8:5b 5 but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
Matthew 6:9-13 9 “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’
Romans 8:6 6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace…
Romans 8:7-8 7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.
Romans 8:9 9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
