TABLES General guidelines – Choose a clear and logical design – Avoid clutter - use spacing – Rounded data are easier to read and compare – Like elements should read down, not across – Arrange columns in some rational order – State units of measure 12

15 Copyright 2010, The World Bank Group. All Rights Reserved. CONSIDERATIONS WHEN PREPARING GRAPHS AND CHARTS Consider the medium - slides, overhead, paper? Decide what the graph is intended to stress - magnitude, size, trend? Pay attention to – Titles – Legends – Tones or colors 15

CONSIDERATIONS WHEN PREPARING GRAPHS AND CHARTS ( cont’d) Use charts or graphs to explain or support major points Keep graphs simple – It should not need detailed explanation Refer to the graph in the text – Place it near the reference. Avoid 3D presentations 16
