2 Teen Drama Representations In teen drama Skins, we can see that Kaya Scodelario one of the main characters who takes the role of Effy Stonem. She shows various representations including: Class: She is an average working class teenager. Sexuality: She is a straight teenage girl. Disability: Her mother suffers from depression leaving her to be the Lady of the house. Regional Identity: She is just an average teenage girl from Bristol. Age: She is 22 years old. Ethnicity: She is a white British girl. Gender: She is a female teenager.

3 Period/Costume Drama Representations In the period/costume drama Downton Abbey, we can see that Lily James who plays one of the main characters Lady Rose Aldridge (McClare) Class: She is high up in the upper class as she had the title of a Lady. Sexuality: She is a straight woman. Disability: She doesn't have any source of disability. Regional Identity: She is a British young woman. Age: She is 25 years old. Ethnicity: She is white and British. Gender: She is female.

4 Police/Crime Drama Representations In the police/crime drama Breaking Bad, we can see that Bryan Cranston is one of the main characters playing the role of Walter White, shows various elements of representations including: Class: He is a middle class science teacher. Sexuality: He is a straight man with a wife and teenage son and a baby girl. Disability: He does not suffer from a disability but he does have the stage 3 lung cancer. Regional Identity: He is American. Age: He is 50 years old. Ethnicity: He is white. Gender: He is male.

5 Medical/Hospital Drama Representations In the medical/hospital drama Casualty, we can see that Sunetra Sarker is one of the main characters playing the role of Dr Zoe Hanna. She shows various representations within her role including: Class: She is a middle class working woman. Sexuality: She is a straight married woman. Disability: She does not have a disability. Regional Identity: She was born in Liverpool, England but lives in London. Age: She is 41 years old. Ethnicity: She is an Indian Hindu. Gender: She is female.

6 Laura Mulvey She walks into the kitchen wearing a red top, white shorts and an open shirt. Laura Mulvey’s theory would state that she is being shown as being objectified as she is wearing provocative clothing and because of this she is being shown as a sex object. Red is seen as being a provocative and sexually associated colour. Laura Mulvey, who believes that women are being objectified especially within the media.

7 As she is a woman, she is the one in the kitchen making her partner his toast and coffee for breakfast whilst her partner is getting ready for work, and although she has to get ready for work, she is still the one making them breakfast. This is portraying a stereotype as women are seen as being in the kitchen as well as being seen as the more caring gender and are therefore meant to care for their family.

8 Angela McRobbie As the woman in the clip is shown to be in the kitchen making breakfast, a stereotype is shown as the belief that because she is a woman that she should be in the kitchen look after her partner. This is an old and outdated image of how women are portrayed. Angela McRobbie’s theory says that women are usually represented through stereotypes and are often portrayed as carrying out the traditional roles of their gender. Angela McRobbie, who believes that the idea of a woman’s ‘job’ is a stereotyped image.
