9 9 MICROFOR Micropile Interstate Cooperative Research on Foundations and slOpe Reinforcement Micropile systems offer large resistance to lateral loading by mobilizing the axial resistance of the piles, rather that the bending stiffness. Micropile systems offer cost-effective engineering solutions to urban infrastructure applications including underpinning which cannot be cost effectively resolved with conventional technology. Micropile systems offer flexibility in the design which can be cost effectively adapted to varying site conditions. Micropile systems offer high seismic resistance and innovative solutions to liquefiable soils  The focus must be on optimizing system performance through scalable and predictable design particularly for foundation retrofitting applications in the urban setting where other techniques cannot compete.  Take advantage of soil-pile-soil interaction (in addition to geotechnical and structural capacity). Do not disregard it and do not allow for it to handicap the design! And construction technology... Preliminary Feasibility Assessment Why Hybrid Systems of Micropiles?
