2 No matter where you went to school, no matter what your grades were, no matter how much experience you have, no matter who you know – if you are not able to decide on the choice of your career, if you do not know what you want to do and what type of job you will be happy in, if you do not go through the process of analyzing yourself and finally, if your interview does not go well, you won’t get the job.

5 Career Management is the pathing, planning, and development of one’s work schedules and activities in relation to the individual’s abilities, skills, competencies at the initiative and with the assistance of management in order that he can take greater job and personal responsibility for his future. The individual informally traces the path along which he moves onward in his career in accordance with his aspirations and desires. Thus, career pathing is the first stage in career management. 10 You and Your Career Plan your job search –Decide which type of job and which field you would enjoy. Do not be choosy at this point! –Prepare a resumé. Print as many possible! –Search for job opportunities that interest you. –Send letters of application and resumés to prospective employers. –Interview with companies and take appropriate follow-up action.

18 You can’t decide what you want from a job until you are clear about what you want from life. Other people will tell you what you would want from life. You do not have to accept their answers – ban “should” from your job search.

19 Different people are impressed by different things. What do you want to be admired for? By whom? The keys to what you really want are the things you do not like to admit.

20 Some people are big-city types, others are happier in small towns. Do not be afraid to ask about the job People do not care about how much you know until they know how much you care.

21 Do not worry about whether you will be good at something. Do not plan too far ahead. Take a job because it will make you happy now, not because it may make you happy tomorrow.
