2  Public health indicators displayed the true efficiency and state of healthcare systems.  Comparison of the healthcare system in Romania and other 12 EU Member States (Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Hungary, Malta, The Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, UK)

3  We used the comparison of various indicators for the system financing, performance indicators and indicators of the workforce for Romania and 12 EU Member States, using international databases or reports of Romanian indicators to various international institutions.

12  Although the financing of healthcare services increased, it can be observed a continuing attempt to reduce the expenses for the medical and pharmaceutical services at EU level. It is necessary a reduction of the acute care hospital beds and a policy to maintain the healthcare professionals in Romania for a better coverage of the population with health services
