WELCOME Welcome

The DCCCD Student Success Pledge and Commitment We pledge to provide access to outstanding, educational opportunities for all of our students. We are dedicated to the success of our students, since their success is critical to the prosperity of our communities, our state, our nation, and the global community of which all people are members. Chancellor’s Idea Sparks #7

Student Success Pledge and Commitment Continued We acknowledge that faculty voices must advocate for innovation and support the achievement of their students. We recognize that in order to meet these goals we must commit to the pursuit of teaching excellence, demonstrate intentionality, transparency and effectiveness in our pedagogy, and finally, exhibit passion for the classroom experience. Chancellor’s Idea Sparks #7

Student Success Pledge and Commitment Continued We pledge to work for the good of the “whole” student. We acknowledge that developmental education cannot cure the multiple contributors to student failure, including insufficient student development prior to college enrollment, poverty, discrimination and lack of social support, and yet affirm that informed pedagogy can help students overcome barriers and achieve deeper learning. Chancellor’s Idea Sparks #7

Student Success Pledge and Commitment Continued WE FURTHER PLEDGE TO: Keep student success at the forefront of our practice. Investigate through evidentiary means the success of our activities in the classroom and share the results of this assessment, Reflect upon our own teaching practices in conversation with other developmental education professionals, and Pledge to advance pedagogy as an important part of the profile of existing and future faculty members.
