3. Statement/Telling/Declarative Whether you call it a statement, telling, or what I call the 4 th grade word, declarative, you are talking about a sentence that tells you something. These sentences will always end with a period.

5. Command/Imperative If a sentence is giving you a command or telling you to do something, it is called a command or the 4 th grade word…imperative. They can be easily confused with statements because they also end with a period.

7. Question/Asking/Interrogative When a sentence is asking something it is called a question. As you get older they will call this type of sentence an interrogative. An asking sentence ends with a question mark. ?

9. Exclamation/Exclamatory When a sentence shows STRONG emotion, then it is called an exclamatory sentence. These type of sentences end with an exclamation point. !
