5 The “3 Rs” of the New Deal Relief: Programs that would help immediately by employing people. Recovery: Programs that would help the country rebuild. Attempted to help nonbank sectors of the economy recover. For example, the agricultural and housing sectors. Reform: Used legislation to prevent this disaster from happening again. Focused on banks, labor, labor unions, etc.

6 Programs CCC - Civilian Conservation Corps 1933 -Public works (infrastructure), structures and trails in parks -Civilian voluntary “army” = food, clothing, jobs CWA – Civil Works Administration 1933 – High paying jobs in construction (ended in 1934) – Bridges, schools, sewer pipelines
