3 3 HQT R EMINDERS Core teachers must meet HQ requirements at the time of assignment or hire. Districts with non-HQ teachers listed at the bottom of the narrative should include a separate line item describing how the teachers are highly qualified for the current school year.

8 T HE SUBSTITUTE QUESTION Paying for subs is allowable for… Teachers hired for class size reduction using II-A funds Teachers participating in II-A funded professional development The cost of the professional development itself is paid for with IIA funds 8

9 W HAT A BOUT F OOD ? Very high burden of proof to show that paying for food and beverages with Federal funds is necessary to meet the goals and objectives of a Federal grant. Structure the agenda for the meeting so that there is time for participants to purchase their own food, beverages, and snacks. 10 10 P RIVATE S CHOOL R EMINDERS Consult annually Activities based on needs of the private school Allowable activities Anything that meets II-A requirements Except Salaries/benefits and subs Districts may not reimburse private schools directly! Section G of the non-regulatory guidance

12 T IMELINE FOR 2014-2015 August 4 – II-A Application opens online All applications received by September 15 will get 1 st review and feedback by November 1 1 st review of applications received after September 15 will take a minimum of 6 weeks after their submission Goal for 2 nd reviews will be within 2 weeks of district resubmission Carryover opens mid-November 12
