The Pure Christian Purity in Speech

From Heart To Mouth Luke 6:45 -- A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

Matthew 15:19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

Matthew 12:34 You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

James 3:6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

Purifying The Tongue James 1:26 -- Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.

Proverbs 4:24 Keep your mouth free of perversity;    keep corrupt talk far from your lips.

Types of Sinful Speech Colossians 3:8 --But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.

Gossip Romans 1:29 -- They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips….

Lying Ephesians 4:25 --Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.

Unwholesome Talk Ephesians 4:29 --Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Slander and Malice Ephesians 4:31 -- Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.

Coarse Jesting Ephesians 5:4 --Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.

Empty/Deceptive Speech
Titus 1:10 --For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.

Against One Another Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.

Judgment Is Coming Matthew 12: But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

So, Our Speech Should Be…
Full of grace Colossians 4:6 --Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

So, Our Speech Should Be…
Beyond Reproach Titus 2:8 -- and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.

So, Our Speech Should Be…
An example to believers 1 Timothy 4:12 -- Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
