American Space Competitiveness Page 4 Since the U.S. government policy is to launch government satellites on rockets made in the U.S. (or in some cases assembled), the only true measure of American space launch competitiveness is commercial launch market share, which has drastically declined over the past 30 years. Developing Florida Commercial Spaceports Board of Directors resolution authorizing Space Florida to pursue acquisition of select properties at KSC (12 September 2012) Lieutenant Governor Carroll 9/20 letter requesting cooperation to acquire KSC property (20 September 2012) Formal RFI response submitted to NASA for Shuttle Landing Facility (25 September 2012) Unsolicited proposal submitted NASA and U.S. DOT formally requesting transfer of certain KSC land and improvements no longer needed for NASA mission requirements (25 September 2012) NASA initial rejection letter 30Nov12.
