3 Mercury Hi-Lights  2010 – law passes – RCW 70.275  2012 – rule enacted – WAC 173-910  2013 – program on hold (lawsuit)  2014 – law amended – ESHB 2246  2015 – program start (and rule update)

4 RCW 70.275  Mercury lights – must recycle (unless complying with Dangerous Waste requirements)  Landfill ban – Jan 1, 2013  Statewide program – county and city>10,000  Operator – stewardship organization  Producers – must participate  Retailers – sell compliant lights  Collection – no charge at drop off http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=70.275
