3. Viscosity and the Particle Theory Do you remember the particle theory of matter? How do different phases of matter look like at the molecular level?

4. Particle Theory The particle theory states that all matter is made of tiny particles. The particles are always moving around and vibrating. Particles are spaced differently in solids, liquids, and gases.

6. Density Density refers to how much matter we have in a given volume of substance. Do you know what mass and volume mean? They are going to be very important in this section! A very smart guy named Archimedes used density to determine whether or not a crown made for a king was fake... And it was!

7. Buoyancy Buoyancy is the force that pushes up on an object when it is floating in water. Buoyancy is the reason that a boat can float on water. How does a boat float in water, but a penny sinks?
