Objective 1: Learning Styles Each person has their own style of processing information. There are three types of styles in which a learner processes information: 1. Hearing the information (auditory) 2. Seeing the information (visual) 3. Feeling the information (tactile/kinesthetic)

The Auditory Leaner Auditory learners do very well when information is simply told to them. Lectures, discussions and talking situations out work very well for this type of learner.

The Visual Learner Unlike the auditory learner, the visual learner needs to see the information being conveyed. Verbal presentations accommanied by visual materials (PowerPoints, hand-outs, video, etc.) work best for this learner. Visual learners also pay particular attention to non- verbal commands such as body language and facial expressions.

This type of learner needs to move and be interactive. Hands-on activities and group projects work best for this learner. Tactile/Kinesthetic learners tend to have short attention spans, therefore sitting for long periods of time is not recommended. The Tactile/Kinesthetic Learner

COMMUNICATING VIA PRINT MESSAGES Printed messages are great because mass copies can be sent at one time. However, be very careful with choice of font size, color and changes in appearance. Remember, you are not physically present to verbally relay your intended message, therefore, be sure your written message sends the intended message.

Use of Printed Messages The following examples show how simple punctual and/or color changes can transmit different messages. Example #1 I need to see you today. I NEED TO SEE YOU TODAY! Example #2 I didn’t say that. I did NOT say that!
