3 JOB SUFFERED  Livestock all killed  All 10 children killed  Boils on his flesh “ In all this Job did not sin with his lips.” Job 2:10 Friends came to comfort

4 I. Job Learned about his Friends  Fair weather friends  Miserable Comforters - Job 16:2  Sin cause of suffering 4:7 8:6  Suffering to keep from sin

5 Suffering Shows Something about Friends  Some are fair weather friends  “...there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.” Prov. 18:24  “A friend loves at all times” Prov. 17:17

6 2. Job Learned About His Wife  Not very encouraging  “Curse God and die” Job 2:9  Not a help  But a hindrance

7 We learn about Our Companion  A good wife is a rare jewel  Prov. 31:10, Prov. 31:12  Help meet for man – Gen.2:18

8 3. Job Learned About Himself  Testing is essential  Tested by suffering  “though He [God] slay me, yet will I trust Him.” Job. 13:15

9 We learn about ourselves  We do not know if faith is strong until tested “When I am weak, then am I strong” 2 Cor. 12:10

10 We learn about ourselves  We do not know if faith is strong until tested “Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.” Jas. 5:11

11 4. Job Learned About God  Learned more in this short time than a lifetime  Job was very serious about his relationship with God

12 We Learn About God We Learn About God  One side of God we learn only through suffering  We learn that:  He Cares  He loves us  Being right with God is most important

13 “ No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” 1Cor. 10:13

14 What Job Learned Through Suffering

15 I walked a mile with pleasure She chatted all the way But left me none the wiser For all she had to say. I walked a mile with sorrow And not a word said she. But O the things I learned from her When sorrow walked with me.

16 In the End, all was restored erfect man rosperous man raying man opular man roven man
