3 doc.: IEEE 802.11-12/0398r0 Submission Specifications – Questions How much change to 11ad is required to meet the CWPAN PG4 60GHz requirements? –When can obtain requirements statements from PG4? –Understood that many are in Chinese and will need to be translated [CWPAN response]: –CWPAN PG4 will provide 60GHz spectrum requirement in English in March meeting and other requirement statement in English asap How much change to 11 is required to meet the CWPAN SG5 40-50 GHz requirements? –When will the 40-50 GHz spectrum allocation rules be released? –What did SG5 request from SRRC? –Will 11ad be an acceptable baseline for CWPAN SG5? –Mutual exchange of documentation between 802.11 and CWPAN is needed IEEE participants need access to CWPAN SG5 application specifications Understood that many are in Chinese and will need to be translated [CWPAN response]: –CWPAN SG5 will present the update of 40-50 GHz spectrum allocation request and channel measurement & model for 40-50 GHz in March meeting –CWPAN SG5 will provide application specifications? –Please see 11-12-0402-00-Overview of CWPAN SG5 Q-LINKPAN

4 doc.: IEEE 802.11-12/0398r0 Submission Questions & Replies Question about 2 channels vs 3 channels, is there documentation on benefits? –Will provide a presentation Might china regulations in 60 GHz expand spectrum? –Will not consider at this point of time; Will CMMW & 11ad devices coexist? –Yes when operating in 60Ghz frequency band Will they start on wide or narrow channels? –This is detailed technical question, need further consideration. How similar will 40 GHz design be to 11ad? –Depends Will the QLINKPAN project stop if CMMW continues? –No, QLINKPAN will continue Are there other countries that would allow 40-50 GHz operation? –Don’t know. USA may allow Can CMMW get access to QLINKPAN technical specs or documentation? –Need to work out the way to exchange the information Regarding regulatory rules, would 40-50 GHz be available only to QLINKPAN or to any system? –Any system How much of 40-50 GHz will be licensed versus unlicensed? –Unlicensed: 43.334~46.918GHz=3.584GHz –Licensed: 40.5~43.334GHz=2.834GHz, 47.288~50.2GHz=2.912GHz Can 802.11 get CWPAN’s 40-50 GHz request to China regulators? –Need to work out the way to exchange the information

5 doc.: IEEE 802.11-12/0398r0 Submission Meetings – Questions We have confirmed that CMMW TG meetings will be organized through CESI [CWPAN response]: CESI will be responsible for the CMMW TG meeting in China and ensure the payment of registration fee by credit card and the Wi-Fi service during the meeting; What is the best scheduling arrangement to optimize the quantity and quality of participation and technical exchanges –Essentially all of current CWPAN PG4/SG5 members will participate in CMMW TG activities –CMMW TG meetings will be co-located with 802.11 plenary meetings –CMMW TG interim meetings will be held independently in Asia The meeting schedule for 802.11 interims and 802 plenaries are scheduled through 2014 CMMW TG meetings will not be scheduled to overlap with scheduled 802.11 WG meetings If there is an 802.11 interim meeting in Asia, the CMMW TG will be co-located The three Asian CMMW TG interim meetings will be scheduled for 2 days ( 12 months in advance) If the CMMW TG interim meeting follows the 802.11 interim would you prefer the CMMW TG interim meetings be held Mon-Tues or Thur-Fri? –CWPAN meetings will be co-located [CWPAN]: CMMW TG on Wed-Thur, CWPAN on Mon, Tues, Friday. The schedule is in the next slide 802.11 interim meetings announced at least 45 days in advance do not require a quorum for voting January 2012 Slide 5
