1 Cumbria Affordable Warmth Project 2010-13 A 3 year project to co-ordinate the activities of the county and district authorities, partners and other stakeholders in delivering information and outcomes that will impact on and reduce levels of Fuel Poverty across the region

2 Cumbria Affordable Warmth Project 2010-13 Customer 1 st and Customer Relationship Management Systems continue to a break new ground in the way that they respond to the needs of their internal and external customers.

3 Cumbria Affordable Warmth Project 2010-13 The ambition of the project is to develop/demonstrate best practice in relationship to Affordable Warmth Advice

4 Cumbria Affordable Warmth Project 2010-13 Project Drivers Government figures state that in 2009, 4.6 million households in the United Kingdom were in fuel poverty. For every 1% increase in fuel prices, it is believed that 40,000 households fall into fuel poverty.

5 Cumbria Affordable Warmth Project 2010-13 Project Drivers The Institute for Public Policy Research said that 36,000 people died in the winter of 2008 - 2009 as a result of fuel poverty, which was a rise of 49% from the previous winter.

6 Cumbria Affordable Warmth Project 2010-13 Project Drivers Many people who are in fuel poverty feel the only way that can reduce their winter energy bills is by stopping heating their homes. This has major health implications, and will have been the major factor in relation to excess winter deaths in 2008-2009.
