5. In 2006–07 43,777,000 tonnes of waste were generated in Australia. The amount of waste generated grew by 31 % between 2002–03 and 2006–07.

15. Step 1: Bring in your plastic bags and flexible plastic packaging. Step 2: Drop them in the RED Collection Bin

16. Step 3: RED picks up the plastic bags and takes them to our RED Centre. Step 4: Then the bags are fed into a shredding machine where they are munched up into small bits.

17. Step 5: The plastic is then heated to a very high temperature and poured into moulds to make shapes. Step 6: When the plastic cools, it becomes hard and it can be used to build furniture like benches and tables for your school!
