2 What is it? A way of incorporating community service into the classroom while facilitating learning. Project-based – uses real world problems but doesn’t actually leave the classroom.

3 What can be done with it in the classroom? Can be used to get students interested in current events.Can be used to get students interested in current events. 4 Why should it be used in the classroom? Teaches students about real world issues. Gets students out of the classroom. Project-based – gives students an opportunity to work in groups to solve real problems.

5 Why should it NOT be used in the classroom? May not relate to curriculum. There are possible danger risks. The funds may not be available. Project-based – pretty much the same without the danger risks.

6 Students getting harmed during outdoor projects. The policies of schools or the recipients of services. Doing something against student’s beliefs. Project-based – Personal belief issues.

7 What's already in the classroom that can do the same or a similar thing ? 8 What can it do that can't be done with any other tools? Gives students a hands-on experience. Gets students up and moving out of the classroom to target several of the multiple intelligences. Project-based – applies to real world to draw in different intelligences.

9 What equipment/ training is required to use it? Service learning facilitators to help teachers. Learning to use equipment necessary for project. Project-based – teacher helping students to use technology.

10 How much does it cost? Grants can be given for service learning materials. Project-based – material cost.
