3 Discussion: What resources are available for teaching? What resources you like to use/you like teachers to use in teaching? Why? What resources you think are useful in promoting learning and teaching? What are the issues in using some resources?

4 Definition Teaching resources: refer to books, any person, animals, or any object, that make teaching and learning easier, clearer and more interesting (Baker and Westrup, 2000:115)

6 New form of literacy What is the new form of literacy? The new form of literacy, beyond text and image, is one of information navigation. Brown (2002) points out that this is the ability to be ‘your own personal reference librarian – to know how to navigate through confusing, complex information spaces and feel comfortable doing so’. What is the new form of literacy? : the ability to surf the net and find the information needed. (王蔷, 2006 ) How to find possible resources for teaching and learning purposes? Task 1 1) list possible resources you would like to use in most of your teaching 2) Design the first lesson of a new term by listing possible resources you would like to use and illustrate the reason of choosing them.

7 How to create you own resources for language teaching? Create your own file of pictures and cards Use your own creativity and imagination to provide a better learning environment for the students Make your students an important resources Use the internet resources

8 Task 2 Pair work: There are many more resources we can explore in the classroom. They are not easily observable and they are hidden somewhere. Work in pairs and try to think of any other resources that we can make use of when teaching. Please note that we do not necessarily need to spend money to buy them.

9 Task 3 Group work: Review the following ten useful teaching resources and design an episode to illustrate how you use these resources appropriately.
