3 Location The Montevetrano company estate is located on the slopes of the Picentini Mountains Regional Park. Along with San Cipriano, the Picentino valley is formed by other new towns which extend to the rear edge of Salerno, in a mountainous territory rich in history and ancient cultures. The urban structure of these small nuclei has been shaped by nature, with houses built up along the mountain slopes and integrated into the land, passed through by the clear waters of the Picentino river. The natural heritage of the area includes the biggest forest expanse in southern Italy: forests of oak, chestnut and hazelnut to vineyards, citrus plants and olive trees.

4 Location The Montevetrano estate now spans 65 acres, of which around 13 are vineyards, planned for expansion to 15 acres. The areas cultivated at present are at 330 feet above sea level, in different zones. The vineyards stretch beneath the Montevetrano medieval castle and along the plains, bordering the edge of the chestnut forest. The perimeters are marked by rows of mulberry bushes. Antique roses border the rows of the “vigna del cavallo”, at the same altitude as the farmhouse.

5 History The Azienda Agricola Monteverano was born years ago through the experimental enthusiasm of a group of friends who shared a passion for wine, stemming from the legendary Bordeaux wines of the era. The estate was purchased in the 40’s by the “Imparato grandparents”, it produced fruit, nuts, wine and oil for family use. In 1985, the near 5 acres of land were used to plant Aglianico Taurasi, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot onto Barbera, Per’è palummo (Piedirosso) and Troia grape

6 History In 1991, the very first bottles of Montevetrano were produced, just for friends, from 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Aglianico. Silvia Imparato decided to rebuild the estate and create an outstanding iconic wine. With the help of friend and consultant Riccardo Cotarella, she has built this estate into an example of quality and dedication, crafting a truly unique wine
