Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer trying to find a route to India to trade spices. Through his voyages, he also hoped to spread his religion and find wealth and fame. In 1492, with the help of Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain, he set sail with his three ships, the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. He landed in San Salvador in the Bahamas.

Juan Ponce De León was a Spanish explorer in search of the fabled Fountain of Youth as well as riches. In 1513, he set sail from Puerto Rico. While he never found the Fountain, he landed near St. Augustine, Florida, and was the first European explorer to set foot in Florida.

Christopher Newport was an English explorer who took many trips to the English colony at Jamestown, Virginia. He helped transport supplies and colonists. Between 1606 and 1611, he made five trips to Jamestown.

Jacques Cartier was a French explorer who was in search of the Northwest Passage, a pathway that supposedly cut through North America to the Pacific Ocean. He made three voyages between 1534 and 1541. He landed near Quebec, Canada, and explored the St. Lawrence River, however he never found a Northwest Passage.
