Darwin and Lamarck’s theories

Darwin’s theory Natural selection: The theory of evolution states that evolution happens by natural selection. The key points are that: individuals in a species show a wide range of variation this variation is because of differences in their genes individuals with characteristics most suited to the environment are more likely to survive and reproduce the genes that allow these individuals to be successful are passed to their offspring. Individuals that are poorly adapted to their environment are less likely to survive and reproduce. This means that their genes are less likely to be passed to the next generation. Given enough time, a species will gradually evolve. You need to remember that variation can be caused by both genes and the environment. But it is only variation caused by genes that can be passed on to the next generation.

Why did no one believe Darwin? Because people back then were so close-minded that they didn't want any other explanation other than god for the creation of Human Beings. People. didn't want any change to their beliefs. Darwin's Theorem was not welcome.

Lamarck’s theory His theory stipulated that a characteristic which is used more and more by an organism becomes bigger and stronger. One that is not used disappears eventually. Any characteristic of an organism that is improved through use is passed to its offspring. His explanation on how giraffes have long necks: a giraffe stretches its neck to reach food high up the giraffe's neck gets longer because it's used a lot the giraffe's offspring inherit its long neck

Why is Lamarck’s theory not accepted? Lamarck's theory is basically proposing that an organism obtained the traits. They have due to the activities performed by their parents. Therefore, Lamarck is practically saying that if you were to remove the tails of two rats, and have them reproduce a baby, the baby would have no tail. Scientific studies have proved this wrong and that's why his theory is no longer accepted.
