All Rights Reserved. 2 Objectives Establish an industry standard unique identifier for all known wells in the world Create a Master Well Index containing the unique identifier together with sufficient common attributes to enable matching of wells to the file Provide an industry service for Well Registration and Matching to: assign unique ids to new wells match existing wells to identifiers already in the master index

Enable clients to assign standard unique ids to proprietary well files to minimize ongoing integration issues. The Well Registration and Matching service will: Enable IHSE customers and other operators, data vendors, and service providers to assign standard unique ids to their well files for delivery to industry.

All Rights Reserved. 5 Master Well Index Structure We have completed the design, development and loading for R1 of the MWI based upon extensive client discussions and review Future releases will be designed in combination with the WISWG The MWI will be maintained as a single table with one record for each unique well. There will be 4 main components: GUWI Common Attributes Status Registration

All Rights Reserved. 7 Deliverables Master Well Index We will initially populate the MWI with all of the IHS Energy wells in the Canadian, US, and International databases; these will be flagged as proprietary. (4 million +) Over time, we will add to this data on new and unique wells provided to us by customers; these will be flagged as public. New and unique wells added through IHS Energy research and accumulation processes will continue to be flagged as proprietary. Work Group Issues!

We will deliver records flagged as public for the areas that they don’t subscribe to. The proprietary content of the MWI will remain the property of IHS Energy covered by existing data contracts. For non-customers: We will make the records flagged as public available

All Rights Reserved. 9 Deliverables Well Registration and Matching Service The Well Registration and Matching Service is something that IHS Energy offers today within the International business: Generate a unique id for new wells Return a list of unique ids by matching against a list the MWI We will not be generating new ids for the US and Canada but we will extend the matching service to these regions. The Well Registration and Matching Service will be made available to customers and non-customers alike. Work Group Issue!

All Rights Reserved. 10 Deliverables A web site has been created that provides details about the service and how to submit requests for the Master Well Index or the Well Registration and Matching Service. There are forms on the site that guide you through the process and show what data is required It is intended to provide the MWI and Services to industry on a cost-recovery basis The GUWI Service will be available starting June 5 th, 2006 Work Group intends to Sponsor costs!
