2. Need Cinematic Techniques page out! We are going to watch a video to analyze the different cinematic techniques two times The first time, the sound will be off, pencils will be down Anytime the video cuts from one shot to the next, I want you to clap Pay close attention to the way the camera moves, and how the video is edited

3. Second Viewing -- Have out blank sheet of paper! This time, the sound will be on Number off 1-6  1: Shots & Framing  2: Camera Angles  3: Camera Movements  4: Lighting  5: Lighting  6: Editing  7: Music/Sound Take notes of your specific category—what do you see? Write brief descriptions of how the technique is used, using the specific elements in your category

4. Discuss What was used? Where? Editing? What about the music/sound?  How did the addition of the song in the background effect the mood of the video?  What type of effects were created in the film?  What cinematic techniques created these effects?

5. Group Paragraphs All numbered groups get together Together, discuss how your technique category was used in the film On page 132 in SB, you will follow the model in #4 to write a group paragraph discussing the technique to create a specific effect (decide what is the effect) Colored paper coming around for paragraph!

6. Homework Check For Understanding Writing Prompt on page 132 Choose TWO most significant/effective cinematic techniques used in film, and write a paragraph that explains the effect of the cinematic techniques. Include a well-stated topic sentence (almost like thesis) Cite the best details from the “text” to support statement Think of CQC model
