1 Improving Crisis Care Dr Sarah Morgan Mental Health Clinical Lead

2 Context to the day Mental Health is a priority area for Camden and Islington CCGs as well as Health and Wellbeing Boards. Our aim is to provide effective mental health support in the right place, at the right time, for those who need it. Camden CCG have committed £16m of increased investment in mental health over a five year period (2014 – 2019). Partners across Camden and Islington have invested a further £750k to develop prevention initiatives. Commissioners are working collaboratively with Clinical Leads, service users and Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust to improve services across the whole mental health pathway.

3 Gathering evidence We have commissioned various research/reports to understand the gaps in provision for crisis care and where improvements are needed in order to make ‘a case for potential service re-design and further investment’. Some of the things we know from this: o Over-reliance on EDs for mental health care. o EDs used by significant numbers as a fast access route to mental health care. o Resource issues for Psychiatric Liaison teams. o Year-on-year increase in demand for services across the pathway. The Crisis Care Concordat provides the platform to raise standards in crisis care and strengthen partnership working across Camden and Islington.

4 1.To gather your input into the Crisis Care Concordat plan and sense check we have it right. 1.To gather your views on what you see as priority areas for investment across the crisis care pathway (Camden). Objectives of the day Working with the people of Camden to achieve the best health for all
