3. Introduction to Problem  New operations technologies are being implemented at UPS. New sort/load systemNew sort/load system  The information from generate reports used by the center supervisors.  Reports are in paper form and contain information for ALL of the drivers in the center.

4. Introduction to Problem (cont.)  Time is limited during the dispatch operation.  On-road supervisors are responsible for reviewing reports and determining the best possible plan.  Reports from the sort/load system could be incorrect.

5. Proposed Solution: DDIA  Develop an application for Pocket PC that can be used by supervisors to dispatch drivers.  The Pocket PC will be used in a wireless environment.

6. Application Details  Retrieve delivery information from the center database.  Get information for a specified driver.  Get current load information for a specified truck.  Update the current days pre-trip dispatch report.

7. Application Details (cont.)  Developed using C# and ADO.NET  Database will be designed in SQL Server 2000 and remotely connected to using SQL CE client.  Possibly Microsoft Access.  Another possibility is to use an XML schema.
