Introduction to Problem New operations technologies are being implemented at UPS. New sort/load systemNew sort/load system The information from generate reports used by the center supervisors. Reports are in paper form and contain information for ALL of the drivers in the center.

Introduction to Problem (cont.) Time is limited during the dispatch operation. On-road supervisors are responsible for reviewing reports and determining the best possible plan. Reports from the sort/load system could be incorrect.

Proposed Solution: DDIA Develop an application for Pocket PC that can be used by supervisors to dispatch drivers. The Pocket PC will be used in a wireless environment.

Application Details Retrieve delivery information from the center database. Get information for a specified driver. Get current load information for a specified truck. Update the current days pre-trip dispatch report.

Application Details (cont.) Developed using C# and ADO.NET Database will be designed in SQL Server 2000 and remotely connected to using SQL CE client. Possibly Microsoft Access. Another possibility is to use an XML schema.
