12 ESC seminar 12.09.2003 Study findings High use of traditional methods, low level of modern methods, and absence of post-abortion counseling in most facilities lead to abortions and repeat abortions Even when free commodities were available, 2 out of 5 women who planned to use contraception, did not leave with a method Provider’s knowledge and attitudes impact on the information during the post-abortion counseling To decrease the number of abortions we should offer qualified post-abortion counseling and contraceptive methods in all cases
