Read the riddles below. Can you figure out which Central American and Caribbean countries we are????? (You may use your map in your book page xxi) My capital is Tegucigalpa. ¿Quién soy? ____________________ I am a Spanish speaking country that shares a Caribbean island with Haiti. ¿Quién soy? ____________________ My northern border touches Mexico and my western border touches the Pacific Ocean. ¿Quién soy? ____________________ I am an island off of the coast of Florida, and I touch the Gulf of Mexico. San José is my capital. ¿Quién soy? ____________________ My people don’t speak Spanish, but I am beside 2 other Central American countries that do. ¿Quién soy? ____________________ Colombia touches my southern border. ¿Quién soy? ___________________ I am a tiny Caribbean island to the north of Venezuela. My capital is San Juan, and I’m actually not a country. ¿Quién soy? ____________________ The Pacific Ocean is to my left, and the Caribbean Sea is to my right. I also have a big lake (lago in Spanish). ¿Quién soy? ____________________ I only touch the Pacific Ocean on the west. Matching Activity Each student will receive an envelope with Spanish words and picture grid. Empty the words out of the envelope Put the words in alphabetical order Listen to each word and repeat Match each word with the correct picture
