Complete the order by adding your contact and billing information and submitting payment... Your website will look like this...

Using cPanel cPanel is a handy graphic user interface (GUI) provided by many web hosts that lets you easily manage your files, application installations, and configurations in a single dashboard. This host provides a one- click installer for WordPress but not for Omeka, so we will start by installing WordPress. Remember: You probably will not need to return to cPanel for anything after today. Both Omeka and WordPRess have their own interfaces that you will use to add content. Navigate to http://yourdomainname/cpanel Enter login credentials Navigate to Fantastico Deluxe to install WordPress automatically

If all goes well, you will have something like this...... keep in mind that you may have to wait a while before your site is visible. If your site is still inaccessible after 24 hours, contact wpWebHost support.

Some final words about WordPress Log in at yourdomainname.com/wp-admin Your files are at the "root" of /public_html/ The only files you should ever touch are inside of /public_html/wp-content/. This is where your non-database content is stored; in the folders intuitively named... o themes o plugins o uploads Keys to learning how to use WordPress effectively: o set aside chunks of time to tinker o look for examples of excellent sites using WP o use the WordPress codex o use the community forums (always look before posting)

Make sure you are in /public_html/ and then press "upload"

Upload omeka.zip and return to /public_html/

Extract ("unzip") omeka.zip into /public_html/

Ignore the text on the slide below and just extract to /public_html/ when you see this...

In the File Manager, navigate to /public_html/omeka. Check the box next to db.ini and open with "Code Editor"

db.ini stores Omeka's database information. It will be entered in place of the Xs below but first we need to create the database

Creating the database Return to the main cPanel dashboard Navigate to MySQL Databases You will already have 1 database and 1 user (both for WordPress) You will create a new database called "omekadb" You will create a new user called "omekauser" You will create a ridiculously difficult password for the user...And you will write all of this down!!!

Remember this? Return to db.ini and enter the information for the database you just created.
