2  Yellowstone is located in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho.  Located at high altitude.

3  Since the park extends through three states, the area is 2,219,791 acres.  96% is in Wyoming  3% is in Montana  1% is in Idaho  Larger than Rhode Island and Delaware combined.

4  At Yellowstone you can stay in a cabin, which is located on private 21 acres, or camp on the campground.  The cabins are furnished with furnished kitchens, covered porches, views of three mountain ranges, fireplaces, two mountain bikes and two fishing rods.

5  There are many animals that are native to the Yellowstone are, these include; bears, American bison, bighorn sheep, bobcats, Canadian lynx, coyotes, elk, moose, mountain goats, mountain lions, mule deer, white tailed deer, grey wolf, birds, fish, amphibians and reptiles.

6  The park includes 60% of the worlds total geysers, and includes many hot springs and pools.  “Old Faithful” is the most famous geyser because it erupts so frequently.  Yellowstone is also home to many mud pots.  Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.

7  The weather at Yellowstone is seasonal, summers are moderate, winters are cold with snow.  Since the park is at high altitude, the weather is unpredictable so people have to be prepared for changes.  Thunderstorms are common in the afternoon during summer.

8  The land includes lakes, rivers, mountains, and canyons.  The Yellowstone caldera which is located there, is the largest super volcano on the continent.  Yellowstone park is located at high altitude.

9  There are 1,350 species of vascular plants.  218 of the species are non native.  Because of the high altitude many plants aren’t able to grow there.  Coniferous and Fir trees are the most common trees.

10  For a private non commercial vehicle; $25.  Snowmobile or motorcycle; $20.  Visitors 16 and older entering by foot, bike or ski $12.  These fees allow you to enter the park for seven days as long as you are able to show your receipt.

11  Yellowstone was established on March 1, 1872.  Ulysses S. Grant signed it into law.  It was the first national park in the world.  The park received its name from the Yellowstone river flowing through the park.  There are five park entrances.
