Fear, Hear, Obey Deuteronomy 6:1-5 March 14, PM

2 Introduction We must obey God. We must “Follow the Rules.”
Three things will help us: They are all included in our text today.

3 F E A R Deuteronomy 6:2 - that you may fear the LORD your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.

4 F E A R Fear – to be afraid,to respect, revere, stand in awe
Do not fear – Death Psalm 23:4a - Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil;

5 F E A R Fear – to be afraid,to respect, revere, stand in awe
Do not fear – Death – Psalm 23:4 Personal harm – Matthew 10:28 - And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

6 F E A R We ought to fear – Wrath of God if living in sin
Judgment Day apart from Jesus Being lost – Hell – Eternal Punishment

7 H E A R Deuteronomy 6:4 - Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the LORD God of your fathers has promised you—‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’

8 H E A R John 6:45 - It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me. John 5:24 - “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

9 H E A R Revelation 3:20 - Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. John 18:37c - I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”

10 O B E Y Deuteronomy 6:5 - You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Deuteronomy 6:3 – “Listen obediently” (The Message Bible) Deuteronomy 6:2b - to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you,

11 O B E Y Acts 5:32 - And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.” 2 Thessalonians 1:8 - in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

12 O B E Y Hebrews 5: though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,

13 FOLLOW THE RULES! FEAR HEAR OBEY
