Objective: For students to be able to identify the quadrant in which the terminal side of a 1100 degree angle lies. Standards: G-SRT 6 HW: p. 58, 5, 7, 13, 15, 19, 23, 25, 33, 35, 41, 43, 51, 61, 69 Assessment: Observe understanding during pear deck

Trigonometry Unit 1, Chapter 2
3
What is Trigonometry? Hint: Look at the word “trigonometry” and see if any parts of that word resembles words that you are familiar with?
4
Trigonometry is a branch of mathematics focused on the measures of the sides and angles of a triangle.
5
Angles in Standard Position An angle is in standard position of its initial side is along the positive x-axis and its vertex is at the origin.
6
What trig do you remember from geo?
8
(also show in terms of root/2) “ The sooner you memorize this table, the happier you’ll be.” -Anonymous
11
Vocab Conterminal Angles – Two angles in standard position that share a _______________
13
Find the six trigonometric functions of angle A if y = 6 and r =10.
14
Cofunctions Look at the table we did a few slides back. Notice anything interesting? Hint: It has to do with CO functions
15
Now compare tangent to cotangent and secant to cosecant.
16
Cofunction theorem
17
Why does this happen?
18
Because right triangles that’s why.
19
Guided Practice Sin 47 = cos ___ Cot 1 = tan ___ Sec 100 = csc ___ Cos -2 = Tan x =
20
Lets discuss the following…. In what quadrants will sin be positive? Negative? What about the other trig functions? Is there a way to remember these quadrants?
21
NAME THE QUADRANT!!!!
