2  Hyperglycemia: What is it?  Hyperglycemia means the levels of glucose are high in the blood stream.  High blood glucose means you don’t have enough insulin in your body.

3 Very thirsty Tired Blurry vision Frequent urination Nausea NOTE: If your blood glucose is high call your doctor. You may need a change in your diabetes medicines, or a change in your meal plan

4 If your blood glucose stays over 180, it may be too high. Miss taking your diabetes medicine. Eat too much. Not get enough exercise. Medicines taken for other problems may cause high blood glucose. Infection, being sick Stress

5 Drink more water. Water helps remove the excess glucose from your urine and helps you avoid dehydration. Speak to your Provider if you are a dialysis patient or have CHF.  Exercise more. Exercise will help to lower your blood glucose.

6  Do NOT exercise if you have ketones in your urine.  If you have type 2 diabetes and your blood glucose is over 300 mg/dl, even without ketones, do NOT exercise. The glucose may drop to rapidly.  Change your eating habits.  Call your physician if your glucose level remains elevated for 4 consecutive testing.
