2  The use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like, in exposing, denouncing vice, folly, etc.  A literary composition, in verse or prose, in which human folly and vice are held up to scorn, derision, or ridicule.  A literary genre comprising such compositions.

3  Satire can be used strictly for amusement but more often it is used to point out flaws that need to be corrected.  It is a humorous way to bring about change and positively influence society.

4  The Onion  A fake newspaper that “reports” on events in America and the world.  Often points out racism and inequality in their “stories.”

5  Comedy Central  A syndicated “news” program with a focus on Washington politics.  In 2009 was voted the most trusted news source.
