“fight” for relationships or “flee” from relationships

It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. 1 Corinthians 5:1

And you are proud! Shouldn’t your rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this? … I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this… hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 5:2-5

“Why aren’t your mourning over another person’s sin or struggle?”

“…hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 5:5

Six questions to reflect on: Do you “fight” for or “flee” from relationships – especially when conflict arises?

Six questions to reflect on: Do you “fight” for or “flee” from relationships – especially when conflict arises? Is your response to others punitive or redemptive?

Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 1 Corinthians 5:8

“Love without truth is hypocrisy, truth without love is brutality”.

Six questions to reflect on: Do you “fight” for or “flee” from relationships – especially when conflict arises? Is your response to others punitive or redemptive? How well do you balance living out truth in the context of love?

I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people – not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 1 Corinthians 5:9-10

Six questions to reflect on: Do you “fight” for or “flee” from relationships – especially when conflict arises? Is your response to others punitive or redemptive? How well do you balance living out truth in the context of love? Who are you building relationships with for the goal of inviting them into a relationship with God?

I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers? But instead, one brother takes another to court, and this in front of unbelievers? The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? 1 Corinthians 6:5-7

Six questions to reflect on: Do you “fight” for or “flee” from relationships – especially when conflict arises? Is your response to others punitive or redemptive? How well do you balance living out truth in the context of love? Who are you building relationships with for the goal of inviting them into a relationship with God? Do I always have to be right? Can I just concede for the benefit of another and the greater good of our mission?

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

How are you doing in honoring God with your body from a moral perspective?
