NGP White Paper Series Committee Update January 23, 2007 Presenting on behalf of the WPSC: Kathleen Juza, Bearing Point

Current Topic Use of Standards in Grants Management  “Real World Applications of Grants Management Business, Data, and Technical Standards”  Grants streamlining demands standardization of business processes, technologies, and data elements throughout the grants enterprise.  Adopting standards decreases data redundancy, condenses stovepipes, and reduces duplicative work.  As the GMLOB moves forward, development of standards will become more acute.

Objectives of WP#3  Explore the need for and development of grants management standards  Demonstrate how standards are being applied today  Explore how standards might be created and implemented in the future  Prepare government grant-makers and grant recipients for changes wrought by GMLOB  Relate grants streamlining to the need for business, data, and technical standards  Encourage conversation among all grants enterprise stakeholders

Progress to Date Completed survey of NGP members to gather initial empirical data Developed initial draft interview questions Distributed interview assignments

Next Steps Finalize interview questions: Purpose of interview questions is to focus interviews on common themes around which the paper will be developed.
