1 Using the Laptops and Laptop Cart Appropriately in the Classroom The following are the basic requirements to know before using the Laptops and Laptop Cart

2 Your Laptop - - Your Responsibility A numbered laptop will be issued to you It is important that you use the same laptop everyday. You are responsible for the laptop. Report any damage or repair needs to your teacher.

3 Keep Liquids and Food Away from your Laptop Spilled liquids and or crumbs may damage the internal components or cause electrical issues for your laptop

4 Use Only Approved Wipes for the Screen Class cleaners that contain alcohol or ammonia will cause damage to the scree Never spray cleaners directly on your computer.

5 Always have Clean Hands when Using Your Laptop Wash your hands before you use the laptops If your hands are clean, you will reduce the wear and tear on the coating of the laptop and prolong the life of the device

6 Avoid Spreading Germs Having clean hands also helps to avoid spreading germs Remember there will be several students using the laptop every day. It is important not to spread germs by washing your hands, and sneezing into your sleeve instead of your hands.

7 Don’t Place Heavy Objects on Top of the Laptop This may cause damage to the screen. In addition, don’t place anything between the screen and the keyboard when you close your computer. Items between the screen and keyboard will cause damage to the screen.

8 Use Your Laptop on a Sturdy Surface that Allows for Adequate Air Circulation Placing the laptop on a pillow, blanket or other soft surface blocks important air vents and may cause the laptop to overheat.

9 Never Use a Pencil, Eraser, or Other Object on the Touchpad Only use your finger to maneuver the touchpad. The touchpad can be damaged if not used properly No pencil! Finger on screen!

10 Insert External Drives or Accessory Devices Carefully Insert all removable media or accessory devices carefully and at the correct angle. Do not force anything into a device slot or accessory as it may cause damage to the device or portable media.

11 Picking Up Your Laptop from the Cart Make sure your desk is clear of all materials Always use two hands to carry your laptop Check the laptop for any damage and report it immediately to your teacher.

12 Report Inappropriate Sites Immediately If you should open an inappropriate website, please show the site to your teacher. Your Teacher can share the information with our district technology department and make sure the site is blocked from student use.

13 Putting the Laptops Away Wait for your turn Carry the laptop with two hands Place the laptop in the numbered spot and plug in the cord

14 Never Share Your Student ID and Password Confidential information about you can be accessed when you give your Username and password to another person. Grades, addresses, parent information, and phone numbers can be accessed. It is important to never Share Your Student ID and Passwords with anyone, not even your friends.
