1 Unit 27 Task 3 Week 5-8

2 Week 5/8 Improvement Priority 1: Aerobic fitnessImprovement Priority 2: Flexibility Date:25/02/15Date:25/02/15 Time:15:00Time:13:00 Venue:The Gallops, FindonVenue: Equipment:Correct footwear, cones and stopwatchEquipment:Stretching mat Weather:rainyWeather:indoors Coaches Review:This was the first session after the mid point review, I felt that I had to change my sessions to make them more intense and increase the overload as a result or Russell making quicker progress than I had anticipated, and my session reflected this as it was more intense than I had originally planned for this stage but Russell was able to cope well and completed the exercises well. Coaches Review:This was the first session after the mid point review, as a result of Russell being behind schedule I decided to change the stretches and drills I had originally planned as he was struggling with them to much. Athlete Feedback / Questions: Russell felt like this was a harder but far more effective session than the last one his quick progress meant that the last session I did with him was slightly ineffective. Athlete Feedback / Questions: Russell felt more comfortable and able to complete this stretches than the previous ones. Is Progress As Expected? If No Describe: Yes this session was far more effective for Russell and after his progress had stagnated slightly, he is still well on track to reach or surpass the target set for him. Is Progress As Expected? If No Describe: He is still behind the stage I had originally expected him to be at by this stage but he completed this session well and I believe that with the new sessions planned that he will make the target that was agreed upon at the start of the plan. Coaches Review:This was the second session of my renewed plan and the sessions are a lot more effective and I feel like Russell is already making more progress with the new training sessions. Athlete Feedback / Questions: N/AAthlete Feedback / Questions: N/A Is Progress As Expected? If No Describe: YesIs Progress As Expected? If No Describe: At this point he is making progress better than he had in the first half of the programme, however he is still behind where he should be at this point, so he will have to continue to make larger improvements in the last couple of sessions. Are the Next Session Overload and Progression Plans Appropriate? If No Describe: YesAre the Next Session Overload and Progression Plans Appropriate? If No Describe: Yes Was Contingency Needed? If Yes Describe: We done the session at the rotary as oppose to the Gallops purely just for a change to freshen it up a little bit and keep Russell motivated. Was Contingency Needed? 4 Week 7/8 Improvement Priority 1:Improvement Priority 2: Date:11/03/15Date:14/03/15 Time:15:00Time:14:00 Venue:The GallopsVenue:My house Equipment:Correct clothing and footwear, cones and stopwatchEquipment:Stretching mat Weather:clearWeather:indoors Coaches Review:This was the penultimate session and so I made it to really push Russell so he progresses to the level where he hits the target set for him. Coaches Review:As Russell is still behind on his progress I tried to overload this session enough to really push him to try and make up the progress but not to much that he risks an injury. Russell coped with the harder session well and completed all the stretches and exercises. Athlete Feedback / Questions: N/aAthlete Feedback / Questions: N/A Is Progress As Expected? If No Describe: YesIs Progress As Expected? If No Describe: He is still behind but I believe he has made up progress in the last few sessions to make up for his poor progress the first few weeks, however he is still behind on his overall progress for this stage. 5 Week 8/8 Improvement Priority 1:Improvement Priority 2: Date:18/03/15Date:18/03/15 Time:15:15Time:13:00 Venue:The GallopsVenue:My house Equipment:Correct clothing and footwear, cones and stopwatchEquipment:Stretching mat Weather:clearWeather:Indoors Coaches Review:This session was more about consolidating the progress he has made, because I had pushed him so hard last session I didn’t want to overload again as I thought it would be to much and he might risk injury. We finished the session by doing a short 4 minute version of the cooper run just do see how he felt doing it and so getting an idea of how he will do in the actual 12 minute test. Coaches Review:I didn’t want to overload this session to much and push to hard because I didn’t want to risk Russell getting an injury in the last session, I also thought the improvements he makes would have happened by now and that this session was more about consolidating that and not letting his progress to reverse and result in him losing the progress he had made. Athlete Feedback / Questions: Russell gave positive feedback at the end of the session in regards to the training as a whole, he said how he felt the second 4 weeks was more rewarding than the first 4 weeks and this is likely because the first 4 weeks might not have been hard enough to really push him. Athlete Feedback / Questions: Russell's feedback was that he didn’t enjoy the flexibility training sessions, in part because he struggled with them and also doesn’t like flexibility training as a whole. He did say that he revised training plan for the last 4 weeks was far more beneficial than than the training in the first 4 weeks. Is Progress As Expected? If No Describe: Yes, I fully expect Russell to hit the target in the 12 minute cooper run. Is Progress As Expected? If No Describe: Russell has made good progress in the last 4 weeks however I think the lack of progress made in the first 4 weeks may mean that he will struggle to hit his target. Are the Next Session Overload and Progression Plans Appropriate? If No Describe: N/AAre the Next Session Overload and Progression Plans Appropriate? If No Describe: N/A Was Contingency Needed?
