2 Some people are paid a fixed amount of money regularly, no matter how many hours they need to complete their jobs. This money is called a salary. People who are paid a salary are usually not paid overtime. Professional workers and supervisors in most businesses are among employees who are paid a salary. Salaried workers are paid regularly, but the pay periods may differ from job to job. For example, biweekly, semimonthly, bimonthly, quarterly, and semiannually are some of the pay periods that companies may use.
