2 Background Due to the changes in environmenthal laws:  apears lack of collecting model of animal origin waste from small producers(retailers, restaurants,fisheries, homes)  municipalities are accented as responsible for managing all kinds of waste  low awarness of importance of primary selection of waste  In Ćuprija existing government enterprise for incineratin of animal origin waste

3 Situation when project started Public communal enterprise is reorganized and sufficiency of employees created a need to preserve working places Lack of developed model of systematic manipulation on small amounts of animal origin waste Endangered public health due to possibility of developing epidemic diseases Low awareness of importance of primary selection of waste and of it’s impact on environment

4 Stakeholders Local municipalities of Cuprija, Svilajnac and Despotovac Ministry of agriculture, water management and forestry- Veterinary department Government facility for animal waste treatment Local public enterprise – zoo-hygiene service Environmental fund of Republika Srbija

5 Project description Establishing the processing model for collecting, transport and treating of animal origin waste by September 20011 Determination of amounts, category and further proceeding with small amounts of animal origin waste from retail, meat and fishery small producers, restaurants

6 Where am I at the moment Implementing  Municipalities signed agreement  Public recruitment is done  Two informational meeting  Preparing for workshops with lecturers from ministry and environmental fund

7 Outputs and outcomes Outputs  Standardization and organizational model of zoohigyene service at regional level  Recommendation/handbook for animal waste management at regional level  Monitoring of amounts of animal origin generated waste

8 Outcomes  Preservation/creation jobs due to reorganization of public communal enterprise  Collected and separated animal waste from solid communal waste  Improved public health & hygiene  Preventing of gathering of abandoned animals on the sites where waste is dropped
