Future Directions n Multidisciplinary assessment and intervention n Empirically-based clinical practice n Least restrictive alternative for children n Children’s rights to shelter, education, protection, not be exploited, and receive effective treatment n Legislation: Social policies will support children and families, protect children’s rights during family disruptions, provide good education,and deal fairly with young offenders

Developmental Psychopathology n In research and practice, there will be an increasing interdependence between developmental and clinical research n The “abnormal” “normal” dichotomy in children will blur; instead, common processes will be examined n Prevention will become critical if it can be shown to be cost-effective

Generic Diagnoses n Objective listing of potential symptoms, especially those that are unique n The symptoms are causing problems n Age of onset n Duration/ intensity n Rule out other disorders or medical conditions

Final Exam n Multiple Choice and Short Answer format similar to quizzes (note: students did equally well on both test formats) n Overemphasis on new material n 48 MC, 1 point each –Chapters 14, 13, & 12: 8 questions/chapter –Chapters 6,5,11,10,9,8,7,4: 3 questions/chapter –Note: No MC questions on Chapters 1 & 2 n Short answer: 92 points n Total: 140 points/4 = 35% of Final Grade
